High-tech British manufacturing company Applied Photophysics Ltd. required a highly flexible, expandable and yet cost-effective Telephony solution for their new offices in Leatherhead, Surrey. Metrodata Network Solutions proposed the Samsung OfficeServ 7200S Telephony platform, with i-3105 IP handsets for the majority of users.

The OfficeServ 7000 series has a comprehensive range of features and functionality and offers an effective, affordable solution for any organisation. The systems can be configured to accommodate from 4 to 480 extensions at a single site and combined to link  up to 1,000 sites. Systems use common interface modules and support the same software applications and handsets. OfficeServ makes unified communications solutions deployment simple, without sacrificing functionality for mission-critical business applications.

Applied Photophysics required support for both a standard 'Key & Lamp' Operator Console, plus a dedicated software-driven call control/management facility, fulfilled via the Samsung OfficeServ Operator package. For some users, voicemail, wireless headsets and an integrated 'on-hold messaging' system were additionally specified.

APL IP Telephony Solution

Metrodata Network Solutions was engaged to deploy the new system ready for a weekend office move. As a BT services reseller, Metrodata ensured smooth cut-over of Applied Photophysics' main access and fax numbers to a new ISDN-30 service. Individual handsets were pre-configured for IP addressing and the system pre-programmed with user names and extensions plus their associated hunt groups prior to deployment. Handset deployment and connection could then be left to the last moment to avoid any physical damage associated with the building renovation works. All handsets were connected by Cat 5e cabling, terminated via a patch panel within the Communications Room onto PoE switches linked to the 7200S server.
